Sew It's Saturday schedule
Sew! It's Saturday ~ Program
Schedule Last Saturday of each month
Frost Bank,
Staples and Everhart,
10AM -12 noon
June 28: Pintucking: Susan Cook, a loyal member of SIS and creative sewer, will demonstrate the decorative fabric manipulation called pintucking. This technique does require a bit of time, but it is not difficult to do and the results can be striking. Come and learn with Susan. Additionally, Becky Aquilar, owner of Heirloom Elegance, will be with us to let us know what her beautiful shop has to offer. Unfortunately, we were unable to include.
Heirloom Elegance in our May Shop-Hop due to time restraints. Becky is a very talented sewer and ASG member, and has graciously agreed to come and tell us about the classes she sponsors and acquaint us with the unique qualities of her shop. The more we know, the better we sew.
July 26: Christmas in July: Too many parties in December? We thought so. That’s why we’ll be enjoying some “cool” fun in the heat of the summer as our own dear Barbara hosts SIS Christmas in July in her home. This will be our regular monthly meeting, plus brunch. So, plan to bring a brunch-type dish and a lot of sewing ideas for Christmas gifts and decorations. It’s never too early to get new ideas and a head start on Christmas sewing projects. Note: Limited to ASG members only.
August 30: Embroidery with Susan Glass: See beautiful creations as Susan Glass demonstrates the Brother, the Baby Lock, and the Singer embroidery machines. New innovations in embroidery machines make them easier than ever to use and surprisingly more affordable. You may be more interested than you think!
September 27: “De-frightful” Costumes or Little Spirits on Parade
Just in time for Halloween and Fall Carnivals, Flora Boren will present a perfectly “de-frightful” program on making children's costumes. Flora has been making costumes for many years and knows all the tricks.
October 25, 2008: Run for Cover-ups (a new look at a forgotten favorite)
Apron is the name; presentation is the game. Sharon and Linda will “uncover” the “low-down” on aprons, both vintage aprons and the latest in aprons for all genders and ages. Get some great gift ideas for the culinary people in your lives. If you have a favorite apron, bring it for show and tell opportunities.
